Responsibilities & Skills

Senior Staff Engineer (Hardware) in the Solutions Engineering team, specializing in advanced RTL development for FPGA-based solutions. This role focuses on designing and optimizing complex RTL systems for industrial applications, including industrial networking, motor control, IO aggregation, and protocol conversion, with expertise in advanced protocols such as video controller protocols (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort, MIPI), system bus (e.g., AXI, AMBA), PCIe, USB, and Ethernet. The ideal candidate will lead multi-FPGA system designs, define system architectures, develop execution plans, and participate in turnkey projects while interfacing effectively with customers to align solutions with their needs. Responsibilities include rigorous system integration, validation, and hardware testing to ensure robust, power-efficient, and user-friendly embedded solutions. As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will mentor junior engineers, influence departmental hardware standards, and drive innovation in FPGA-based systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead RTL integration and optimization (power, performance, area) for multi-IP and multi-FPGA systems

  • Develop high-performance, reusable IP cores for industrial/automotive use cases

  • Define system architectures aligned with customer and industry requirements

  • Create detailed execution plans and risk mitigation strategies for turnkey customer projects

  • Perform HW/SW co-design and integration, particularly with RISC-V-based software stacks

  • Design and execute comprehensive system validation, testing, and protocol compliance strategies

  • Directly engage with customers to gather requirements, present proposals, and deliver solutions

  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers

  • Drive departmental standards, best practices, and innovation in RTL design and validation

Leadership & Influence Expectations

  • Lead technical discussions and present complex proposals to internal stakeholders and customers

  • Shape RTL development direction, reusable IP strategy, and validation methodologies

  • Collaborate closely with software, project management, and applications teams

  • Produce high-quality architecture, design, and validation documentation
